How I got started
My name is Josh Dutton. I live in East Tennesse. I was looking for a tree dog. After doing a little looking around I found a man who had one for sale. I am not one to shop around much. Usually I get the first thing I find that fits the bill. I didn't even know what a Kemmer cur was. He told me he trees so I gave him the money. After doing a little research when I got home with him I figured out he was exactly what I was looking for. Any one that knows me can tell you I am not one to go in ankle deep and test the water. I am one that will jump in to the deep end right off the bat. So that's what I did. That led to lots of time on the internet learning all I could about these dogs and their bloodlines. I have always had dogs. Everything from pets, deer dogs and rabbit dogs. Never a tree dog. Done a bunch of coon and squirrel hunting with other folks though. After doing all the reading I made me want more dogs. I met a man who only lives about an hour from me. Rick Leffew was a lot of help with filling my need for more dogs. Rick has a lot of very well bred dogs, and he soon figured out any dog in my yard was the same as having it in his yard.
I really enjoy my dogs. I love watching them in the woods. The way the hunt and track game. My wife and 4yr old daughter also enjoy coon and squirrel hunting with me. There is nothing like walking though the woods day or night with friends and family. My daughter gets a big kick outa raising pups. When I have pups she is like my shadow, she helps feed, worm, give shots, and plays with them. She has so much fun with them. I'm not sure who gets more excited about them her or me.
I am very happy I found this wonderful breed of dogs. Whether you hunt big game or small game, need some one to keep an eye on the farm or just to lay on your feet and watch tv with you Kemmer Stock Mountain Curs are the breed of choice for many.
